EDEX 2025: Egypt's Tornex unveils new ‘target' drones

Egyptian company Tornex displayed a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), most of which were presented as aerial targets, during the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) 2025 held in Cairo from 1 to 4 December.
The largest was the Jabbar 250, which has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 250 kg. It is powered by a small turbojet engine that gives it a speed of 576 km/h and designed with a low radar cross-section fuselage that makes it “a reliable tool for air-defence calibration”, according to the marketing information displayed alongside the UAVs.
Powered by a piston engine, the smaller Jabbar 200 has an MTOW of 200 kg and looks similar to the Iranian Shahed-136 long-range one-way attack (OWA) UAV. It has an endurance of 14 h, which enables it to support “training scenarios that rely on long-duration missions and adaptive flight patterns,” as per the marketing information.
The Jabbar 150 has an MTOW of 150 kg, a piston engine, and an endurance of 10 h. It has a fore plane for additional stability and was displayed with a transparent nose dome to protect an off-the-shelf gimballed camera that enables the operator to select a target. However, it was advertised as an air-defence training drone.
The electrically powered Voltex-10 was also displayed with a gimballed camera and was advertised as being “ideal for short-range threat simulation and radar training”.
The same role was attributed to the Voltex-5, which is also electrically powered and has a 60 minute endurance. This looks like a Switchblade-type tube-launched loitering munition with four wings and a twin tail that unfold after launch.
