European country orders defence equipment from Elbit Systems

An undisclosed European country has ordered defence equipment worth over USD1.6 billion from Elbit Systems, the Israeli company announced in a press release on 13 August.

The first set of equipment includes long-range precision strike artillery-rocket systems and unmanned reconnaissance and loitering aerial combat systems with operational to tactical ranges, including first-person view unmanned aerial vehicles.

The second set includes intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities, including signals intelligence (SIGINT), communications intelligence (COMINT), and electronic warfare systems. Elbit will also deliver enabled intelligence collection and processing systems with advanced electro-optical and night-vision systems; a combat vehicle upgrade; protection systems; military digitalisation; network combat systems with the latest-generation software and advanced hardware communication equipment; and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) applications from the strategic army headquarters down to the tactical level. Elbit Systems president and CEO Bezhalel Machlis said the contract includes industrial co-operation aimed at strengthening the customer's national industrial capabilities.
