Denmark-based Hecto Drones showcased its HD-606 armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) prototype at the Enforce Tac 2026 exhibition, held in Nuremberg, Germany from 23 to 25 February.
The HD-606 prototype displayed was a long-endurance, hybrid powered, payload agnostic sextcopter with a pair of petrol powered generators with 14,000 W of output feeding into a battery array powering the six blade motors, Hecto Drone said. The HD-606 is understood to be capable of operating on petrol alongside its 10 Ah battery. It could carry up to 32 litres of fuel, allowing it to stay airborne for up to 3.5 hours with a 25 kg payload, or eight hours without a slung payload, the company added.
Its long flight endurance and heavy payload capabilities enabled the UAV to fulfil multiple mission roles including multi-sensor surveillance and heavy payload deliveries of up to 50 kg. Whilst the armed configurations of the HD-606 were still at the prototype stage, armed UAV's can be suited to roles such as precision fire support, border defence, airborne suppressive fire and maritime missions.
At Enforce Tac 2026 it was displayed with dual, magazine-fed .50 Calibre heavy machine guns. Multiple weapons systems were being trialled in partnership with Danish weapons manufacturer Small Arms Industry (SAI).
The HD-606 has the ability to support fully autonomous missions using proprietary software allowing automatic takeoff and landing, route planning, and data collection, said Hecto Drone. Given the armed configuration is still in development it did not have autonomous capabilities as of February 2026.
