Tekever has collaborated with General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) UK to showcase its aerial deployment of sonobuoys from an AR5 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) in combination with GDMS UK's distributed acoustic processing, according to Tekever's 25 September press release.
The collaboration took place at NATO's Exercise ‘REPMUS' (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems) 2025 in Tróia, Portugal. It explored how acoustic data could be transformed into actionable information via Tekever's AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning)-powered intelligence platform Atlas, according to Tekever.
The aim was to make detections and tracking more available to operational decision makers on the mission bridge, as per the release.
In September 2021, Tekever exhibited its Atlas tool at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London. Atlas provides AI analytics for real-time and historical processing of data. In 2022 Tekever integrated its AR5 UAS and Atlas in partnership with NATO navies during the ‘REPMUS 2022' exercise. During the drills, AR5 provided aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data and Atlas provided interconnectivity between different naval forces by processing the data collected by aerial ISR platforms.
As per Janes All the World's Aircraft: Unmanned, the AR5 is equipped with a multisensor, three-axis, gyro-stabilised gimbal and an automatic identification system (AIS) receiver. Additional mission payloads can be attached including a five-sensor, gyro-stabilised gimbal; multiple electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) sensors; AIS; emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) station; maritime radar; and Tekever's synthetic aperture radar (SAR) called Gamasar.
