In December 2025, Indian firm Digantara secured USD50 million in funding to advance new programmes in space-based surveillance and missile detection and tracking.

The Bangalore-based company said the funding will support its expansion outside India and the construction of new domestic facilities to produce optical systems and satellites and undertake research and development (R&D).

About USD25–30 million from the new funding will be allotted towards space-based assets and USD5–10 million will be deployed for international expansion, Anirudh Sharma, founder and CEO of Digantara, told Janes in January.

Describing the investment as “straightforward direct equity funding”, Sharma confirmed that Digantara has received the entire capital, which was raised from new investors such as Indian asset management firm 360 ONE Asset and Japanese venture capital company SBI Investments Co, and existing venture capital investors such as Peak XV Partners and Kalaari Capital.

The new funding follows inward investment of USD10 million in January 2025, which Digantara used to invest in its space-tech infrastructure to track previously unobservable space objects and increase its data points.

“The reason why we did this bigger round of funding is because, as a space domain awareness company, we wanted to not just do space domain awareness but also evolve from space domain awareness to other surveillance areas like missile defence [and] missile tracking,” he said.

With operations across India, Singapore, and the United States, and a planned expansion into Europe by mid-2026, Digantara is aiming to develop and provide capabilities for multidomain awareness, the company said in a December 2025 press release.
