Türkiye has showcased a new electronic warfare (EW) pod for its Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon combat aircraft, announcing on 11 April that the Edpod had completed its development testing.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced the development, saying that the Edpod tactical electronic support pod developed by the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM national research centre had successfully completed all tests against real radar systems.

“In line with our goals, we continue to develop the critical infrastructures and original technologies that our country needs and work for a fully independent great Türkiye,” the minister said.

A video released by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM to mark the development showed a Turkish Air Force F-16 carrying the plug-and-play pod on its centreline hardpoint, with animated footage showing the Edpod-equipped aircraft penetrating enemy airspace before acquiring and destroying a ground-based radar site with an air-launched anti-radiation missile.
