Ukraine's Brave1 defence technology cluster and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine have launched an online defence technology marketplace, according to a 28 April press release.
More than 1,000 pieces of defence technology are currently listed on ‘Brave1 Market' including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT) systems, artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies, software, and ammunition. Brave1 confirmed to Janes in a written statement on 2 May that it is looking to introduce tactical gear and combat simulation systems. When asked about the type of ammunition on Brave1 Market, a representative said it is a “closed category”. Food and clothing, provided via the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) central procurement system, are not included in the market.
On 2 May a project manager for Brave1 Market told Janes that filters on the portal help purchasers meet their needs – for example, if a unit needs a UAV above a certain range. The most expensive items, he said, are UAVs sold with ground station and service components. In a demonstration of the portal, Janes saw that the most expensive item was an H10 Poseidon Mk4 UAV for UAH19.3 million (USD465,000). Customers can buy a whole swarm, currently up to 100 UAVs.
The cheapest items, such as antennas, propellers, and video transmitters, are sold for the equivalent of a few dollars.
