Anduril to deliver surveillance, EW capabilities for RAAF base protection

Anduril Australia will deploy its surveillance systems and an electronic warfare (EW) system at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Darwin as part of a recent contract secured from RAAF.

A spokesperson for Anduril told Janes on 26 September that under the contract, the company will initially deploy its Sentry and Wide-Area Infrared Sensing with Persistence (Wisp) surveillance systems, and the Pulsar EW system at RAAF Base Darwin to strengthen the defence of the base.

Anduril announced on 25 September that it has secured a contract from RAAF to deploy and demonstrate its “base protection capability” at RAAF Base Darwin, located in Australia's Northern Territory, for three years.

The Anduril spokesperson said, “The base protection capability incorporates a range of active and passive sensors, which are fused by Anduril's Lattice software to provide robust and resilient 24/7 persistent monitoring of the air and ground domains around RAAF Darwin.”

“This system can be augmented with kinetic and non-kinetic effectors, but these are not included in the initial equipment deployment,” the spokesperson added.

The initial equipment deployment will include the Sentry, Wisp, and Pulsar systems, the spokesperson said. The spokesperson did not disclose the number of systems that will be deployed at RAAF Base Darwin.

“[The Sentry] family of autonomous surveillance platforms can detect, identify, and track objects of interest in the air and on the ground,” the spokesperson said.
