AUSA 2024: Elbit brings MATR-X to America

Elbit Systems of America featured its Multi-Mission AESA Tactical Radar – X-band (MATR-X) at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) 2024 conference in Washington, DC.
The MATR-X radar is the US version of the Elbit Systems' DAiR radar, Janes has learnt. Elbit Systems is the Israeli parent company of Elbit Systems of America.
The company is in process of transitioning the production of the DAiR radar to their factory in Fort Worth, Texas, where the radar is currently in low-rate initial production (LRIP) with aims to reach full-rate production (FRP) by the second quarter of 2025, Brad Reeves, Elbit America's director of C-UAS and Radar told Janes in October.
While the capability will be the same initially, he explained that future software development will likely result in capability differences between the product lines.
The 59.5 lb (27 kg) X-band radar can detect an inbound Nano drone from 5 km to a vessel at 60 km. It can also provide weapon guidance. It is accurate enough to trace each 7.62 mm round as it comes out of an AR-10 into a drone, Reeves said.
The system can operate in a layered defensive environment, as with the counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS), ReDrone, Elbit Systems of America is also promoting at AUSA 2024, or in a standalone configuration.
