EID's TICS demonstrated with Portuguese Army

Portuguese defence communications company EID's Tactical Integrated Communication System (TICS) has been demonstrated with the Portuguese Army, Sandra Perestrello, head of communications and marketing at EID, told Janes on 27 June.

Cohort Group company EID announced the launch of the TICS for military vehicles and fixed positions on 27 June, to sit within the company's family of land communications systems Terranex. TICS is compatible with different types of vehicles including combat, medical, and transport, the company representative said.

It is possible to expand the system with audio controllers and internet protocol (IP)-based services, according to EID documentation seen by Janes . TICS was tested on 12 June during Portugal's Army Technological Experimentation (ARTEX) 2025 in Santa Margarida, Perestrello said. The system was installed on a Pandur ll 8×8 armoured vehicle and an M577 armoured personnel carrier (APC). The system successfully provided voice and data communications from dismounted soldiers up to headquarters, where a common operational picture (COP) was shared.

During the test, TICS-enabled communications from a Pandur were demonstrated to show interoperability across multiple radio systems and waveforms, and with Portuguese Army networks.

EID is looking to supply TICS to the Portuguese Army. The company said the system is aligned with NATO standards including tactical deployed Protected Core Network (PCN) implementation and NATO's Federated Mission Network (FMN) environment, according to the documentation shared with Janes .
