Elbit Systems UK shows off simulator integration

Elbit Systems UK (ESUK) has completed deliveries of the Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer (JFST) to the British Army, networked remotely with the 105 mm Light Gun Interim Indirect Fire Simulation (IIDFS), also from ESUK, at the Royal School of Artillery (RSA) at Larkhill.
An ESUK representative told Janes at the trainer demonstration at DSEI 2025 in September that since delivery the mobile variant of JFST, which was the one on display, had been used in Estonia, Poland, Romania, and the United Kingdom. He added that delivery of the static versions was also complete except for four, which were being redirected because army reorganisation meant that their destinations under the original contract were no longer applicable. These have been reassigned to new users, including the infantry, for mortar training and an additional capability at the RSA. This reassignment will be complete in the next 18–24 months, the representative said.
The mobile system is intended principally for fire support team (FST) training, is contained in three transit cases, and provides virtually the same capability as a static installation although with a smaller display. Two cases provide trainee equipment and facilities: soft emulations of ground-based radar, the Common Battlefield Application Toolset, Infrastructure and Platform (ComBAT) battle management application, combat net radio, video downlink, GPS receiver, and tactical mensuration software. The third case provides the instructor/operator station, through which all aspects of the training can be controlled, monitored, and recorded for after-action review (AAR).
