Lockheed Martin showed journalists including Janes on 5 June how the Digital Engagement Center (DEC) that it opened in Brussels on 17 March can be used to identify defence requirements. Located across the road from NATO headquarters in Brussels, the DEC is the first such centre outside the United States and provides operational analysis and wargaming for the alliance and Europe, Simon Put, Lockheed Martin's senior manager for business development in Western Europe, told the visiting journalists.
Michael Williamson, president of Lockheed Martin International, who opened the facility, tweeted at the beginning of April, “The Brussels DEC is a demonstration of our commitment to deliver mission-focused defence capabilities and partner with our customers to understand their operational requirements and jointly plan solutions to deliver mission success. The DEC provides an immersive and interactive environment for discussing security challenges and potential solutions. Its purpose is to support partners in developing integrated and interoperable defence systems that respond effectively to evolving threats.”
Lockheed Martin presented scenarios to journalists visiting the Brussels DEC on 5 June. A promotional film showed an example of the integrated air and missile defence (IAMD) of a forward arming and refuelling point, supported by High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARSs) and Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, and an airborne high-power microwave.
