The Omani Ministry of Defense (MoD) signed a contract with Spanish company Indra covering additional Lanza 3D radars on 10 April.

The MoD said a contract covering unspecified military systems and technical equipment was signed with Indra when a delegation led by its secretary general, Mohammed bin Nasser al-Zaabi, visited Spain.

Indra released a statement the following day to announce the contract. Noting that it had delivered Lanza 3D long-range early warning radars to the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) in 2020, it said the new contract covers the design, supply, and installation of additional Lanza 3D radars, as well as voice-over radio communications, integration with the command-and-control system, and increasing the RAFO's ability to perform third-level maintenance on its radars.

Indra announced in September 2014 that it had signed a contract with the Omani MoD to supply the RAFO with an integrated surveillance and air-defence system that would include its most advanced radars. It added that the project would include support services and the transfer of extensive technical and operational training to the RAFO.

In a May 2019 update, the Spanish company said it had completed a “state of the art” air-defence system that integrates data from various sources to enable the RAFO to plan and execute missions, as well as monitor the sultanate's airspace.
