Probable C-UAS spotted in Oman
The probable C-UASs at Oman's Sohar Port. (Al Badr Transport)
An Omani transport company has released photographs showing it handled at least two vehicles that were almost certainly carrying counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs).
The undated photographs on the Al-Badr Transport company's website show Italian-made Astra HD86.44 8×6 trucks loaded on transporters at a location that could be identified at Sohar Port northwest of Muscat. They were painted a uniform tan colour rather than the two-tone desert camouflage normally used on most Omani military vehicles or green used by the Royal Guard.
At least one of the trucks – possibly two – was carrying a dismountable shelter fitted with a two-camera electro-optical turret on its roof and a dome for what might have been a mast-mounted direction-finding antenna. Another truck seemingly with a different configuration had what looked like a log-periodic antenna folded down over its shelter.
This combination of shelter-mounted sensors is typically used for C-UASs to detect radio signals, locate their source, and verify the identity of an unmanned aircraft before radio frequency emitters are used to jam its communication and/or navigation signals.
