Swedish aerospace and defence company Saab has received a SEK680 million (USD71.7 million) order from the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics OrganisationâŻ(DALO) for its Combat Training Centre (CTC), according to a 27 June company press release.
Delivery and establishment of the centre will take place between 2025 and 2027 and includes soldier and vehicle training systems, anti-tank and sniper training weapons, communication systems, and Saab's Exercise Control (EXCON) software. The facility is designed to accommodate battalion-sized units, an estimated 600â800 personnel, Thorbjørn Nørgaard Hein , head of press and communication at DALO, told Janes on 27 June. The purchased systems will be used to train everyone starting from individual soldiers and up to battalion commanders, according to DALO.
The system âwill enable [the Danish Armed Forces] to train as close to reality as possible, domestically as well as at the point of need in international collaborationsâ, Hans Lindgren, head of business development at Saab's training and simulation business unit, told Janes on 27 June. He went on to say that by choosing the system âDenmark will ensure full interoperability with NATO and other allied nationsâ.
A fully equipped armoured infantry battalion with essential assets will be able to train with the âlive training equipmentâ, according to Hein. He added that the soldier and vehicle training systems will use Saab's true ballistic laser modules for individual weapons and vehicle-mounted systems.
