Around 800 TrellisWare Technologies radios with the TSM waveform were purchased as part of the British Army's Project Asgard for the Forward Land Forces (FLF) battlegroup from the 4th Armoured Brigade Combat Team (4 Armd Bde CT), a senior British Army officer told Janes in an 18 July interview.
“What we've done for 4 Brigade [as part of Asgard], if [the] Field Army and Chief of [the] General Staff [CGS] want us to, we can do [it] for other brigades,” the officer added. “The first problem that we were given to solve [as part of Asgard] was for [the] brigade level [of FLF] and the next problem will be to look at the corps and divisional level targeting web.”
The aim is to keep the same hardware for each brigade for training and repair purposes. However, “when we start working with other brigades, it doesn't have to be the TrellisWare hardware. We can keep it competitive”, the officer said. The waveform would stay the same throughout; “two people could be from the same organisation, with two different sets of hardware, but the commonality of the waveform means they are interoperable”.
Ukraine's experience in dealing with Russia's electronic warfare (EW) tactics was central to the decision making when it came to selecting the waveform, according to the officer.
