EOS, Milrem expand partnership on robotic combat solutions

Canberra-based Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has expanded its partnership with Estonian unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) manufacturer Milrem Robotics to explore the integration of remote weapon systems (RWSs) across multiple UGV families, a spokesperson for the Australian company told Janes on 6 February.

The expanded partnership is underpinned by a teaming agreement signed in early February, under which the companies will jointly develop network‑centric collaborative combat robotics. The agreement also enables the sharing of technical information to accelerate the commercialisation and fielding of jointly developed or co-marketed systems.

“Under the teaming agreement, we will explore integration of EOS weapon systems across Milrem's unmanned ground platforms, with an initial emphasis on the modular THeMIS UGV family and potential extensions to other robotic systems as demand dictates,” the EOS spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that the agreement “establishes a technical and commercial framework for co-developing tailored solutions. This may include integrating weapon systems onto existing Milrem platforms and developing new payload configurations or capabilities to meet specific customer needs”.

According to the spokesperson, the companies intend to jointly develop solutions based on customer requirements. “Milrem and EOS will jointly map customer requirements, align on technical integration plans, and begin collaborative R&D activities. We plan targeted demonstrations in key regions while developing a joint road map for productisation and market entry,” the spokesperson added.

The EOS spokesperson confirmed that the companies intend to offer their products to meet possible future requirements of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
