Global F-35 fleet passes 1 million flight hours

The global fleet of Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft has surpassed a combined 1 million flight hours, the manufacturer announced on 3 March.
The milestone was achieved by the more than 1,100 F-35A conventional take-off and landing (CTOL), F-35B short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL), and F-35C carrier variant (CV) aircraft now flying with 11 countries, and includes combat hours for all three variants.
As noted in the announcement, with a further nine countries signed up to receive their jets over the coming years, the drive is now on to reach the 2 million hour mark.
The international F-35 programme comprises Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romanian, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
