Lithuania is to become the latest European customer of the Embraer KC-390 Millennium airlifter, with the Brazilian manufacturer announcing a type selection at the Paris Air Show 2025.

Announced on 18 June, the selection has been made by the Baltic country ahead of a planned contract for three of the aircraft. As denoted by the C-390 designation of the announcement, these aircraft will be received as airlifters and not provisioned for air-to-air refuelling as would be the case with a KC-390 designation.

“We have carefully studied the various types of military transport aircraft available on the market, and our assessment has clearly shown that the C-390 Millennium is the most suitable platform to meet our national military operational requirements,” Loreta Maskaliovienė, vice-minister of national defence of Lithuania, said, adding that the contract will be finalised “in the coming months”.

In selecting the Millennium, Lithuania is to become the latest European country to field the type after Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Sweden.
