The Singapore government has signed an agreement with Airbus to explore manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) capabilities using a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) H225M helicopter and the Aerovel (Airbus) Flexrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The agreement was inked by Singapore's Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and Airbus Helicopters on 18 June during the Paris Air Show 2025. “The partnership aims to explore how MUM-T can enhance situational awareness and improve mission outcomes through a flight demonstration,” Airbus said in a press statement.
Unveiled ahead of the Paris Air Show, the Flexrotor will be paired with an RSAF H225 using Airbus' new HTeaming system. According to Airbus, HTeaming “is a range of systems that allows helicopter crews to take full control” of UAVs in flight.
Airbus has said that “[the] first version of HTeaming can be used as a standalone solution or integrated into a helicopter mission system”. Airbus Helicopters showcased the standalone solution during the defence exhibition. The system featured a tablet for ‘human-machine interface' and software to manage the UAV. Supporting equipment on the helicopter comprises a modem and four antennas, according to Airbus.
“The system has been designed to be operated by a standard helicopter crew, with a reduced workload,” Airbus said.
Once HTeaming is installed on board the RSAF's H225M, the crew will be able to take “full control” of the Flexrotor, Airbus said.
