US defence companies AimLock and Teledyne FLIR have integrated AimLock's weapon and targeting system onto Teledyne's Kobra 725 and SUGV 325 unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).
SUGV 325 with RS-2
Teledyne FLIR's SUGV 325 was displayed at DSEI 2025 in September fitted with a dual 40 mm grenade launcher. This was controlled by AimLock's RS-2 remote engagement system, aided by automated targeting.
The SUGV 325 is a backpack-portable robot that has been used for remote manipulation missions and with varying payloads. The RS-2 unit can be affixed with a range of weapon systems, including grenade launchers, quad M72 rocket launchers, a lightweight machine gun, and a .50 calibre semi-automatic rifle. Using a variety of possible sensors and AimLock's Keystone system the R-S2 can conduct automated, stabilised firing with correction for target and platform motion, environmental conditions, and varying ranges.
AimLock's vice-president of Business Development Nolan Bowlus told Janes that although the remote engagement system is not necessarily a new feature, the autonomous capability granted by its Keystone software is, and enhances its precision and responsiveness.
Keystone combines sensor management, onboard processing, artificial intelligence (AI), networks, and sensor fusion with fire control, target tracking, and platform management, according to AimLock.
The mini computer has four processors that manage the platform targeting system using ballistic coefficients and stabilisation algorithms to anticipate threats and enhance firing accuracy, Bowlus said. He added that as an open-architecture and payload-agnostic system, Keystone can be mounted internally or externally on diverse platforms and is compatible with weapons of different calibres and diverse remote weapon systems (RWSs).
