The Colombian military industry (Indumil) presented its Santander ER 0001 shotgun prototype at the Expodefensa 2025 trade show held from 1 to 3 December in Bogotá.
Indumil envisions its potential as a future weapon for police and military forces geared towards riot control, urban security, and operations in complex environment, a company representative told Janes in an interview.
In its technical configuration, the shotgun is a 12 gauge pump-action model, with a total length of 1,051 mm and a weight of 2.4 kg, making it a relatively lightweight weapon within its category. According to Indumil, its 7+1 cartridge capacity positions it as an efficient option for tactical and rapid-response scenarios.
It incorporates a cylindrical choke with a maximum width of 40 mm, a 500 mm barrel, and a total length of 778 mm when equipped with a short stock. Among the most notable innovations are the redesigned handguard, based on ergonomic principles, which improves control during firing, and a new muzzle optimised to offer greater uniformity in pellet spread and improve accuracy at short ranges.
The prototype also integrates an extended handguard with Picatinny rails, allowing for the installation of optics, tactical lights, lasers, or less conventional accessories depending on the mission.
It has a smoother action system, the result of optimised internal polishing and a refined trigger assembly that enhances trigger sensitivity, the representative told Janes . These features contribute to more controlled use, particularly in situations where the accuracy of non-lethal ammunition is critical, according to the company.
