The Argentine Army received its first four M1126 Stryker wheeled armoured fighting vehicles, out of a total of eight acquired from the US government during a ceremony at the Dirección de Arsenales near Buenos Aires on 3 December.
Argentina aims to purchase 207 General Dynamics Land Systems 8×8 vehicles, which the force has declared as its objective to complete an armoured brigade. The delivered Strykers come from US Army stocks, and delivery of the second batch of four is expected before the end of December, said Army Chief of Staff General Carlos Presti during the ceremony.
After a process that lasted more than ten years, during which the Norinco VN-1 and the Iveco Defence Vehicles Guaraní were also announced as chosen by the force, the Stryker was finally purchased with this first batch. Now, the force aims to order a larger batch during 2026–27 to replace part of the fleet of M113 armoured vehicles.
The vehicles were officially delivered to the 6th Mechanized Infantry Regiment ‘General Viamonte' of the X Armored Brigade, belonging to the Rapid Deployment Force in La Pampa, Argentina.
