The Colombian defence company Armor International has developed the first unit of its new Hunter TR-12 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, a variant specifically designed for tactical medical evacuation (medevac) and based on the Hunter TR-12 Chile (CH) platform.

The new Hunter TR-12 medevac features four doors – two front and two rear, plus a rear top hatch for evacuation, the company told Janes during a February briefing. It has a medical module with capacity for two stretchers and can be configured for two or three medical personnel positions, allowing for simultaneous patient care during transport.

This platform incorporates an automated fire suppression system complemented by dual fire extinguishers, new locks, electric mirrors, protective mesh for the windows, and a non-slip interior floor. The vehicle is equipped with run-flat tyres and wheels, wider running boards, eight external tie-down rings, external grab handles, power steering, and reinforced suspension, making it air-transportable on aircraft such as the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules.

It integrates four panoramic thermal cameras, a control console and updated software, as well as a Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) system for external equipment, according to the company.

It also features an internal insulation system with thermal and acoustic foam, designed to reduce fatigue for medical personnel.
