The first three BvS10 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) being procured jointly by Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom respectively were rolled out at BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, on 16 September, the company announced in a press release the next day. BAE Systems said the vehicles would provide the three countries' mobility through the BvS10 Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) programme.
The vehicles were the armoured personnel carrier (APC) variant and are the first three of a total of 663 BvS10s being procured under a 2022 framework agreement. They are based on the latest version of the BvS10 currently operated by Sweden, and will include troop transport, logistics, medical evacuation, recovery, and command-and-control (C2) variants.
Under separate purchase orders placed under the CATV framework agreement, 236 BvS10s will be delivered to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV); 60 to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD); and 140 to the Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw), Germany's Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support; by 2028. Under the same framework agreement, an additional purchase order for 227 more BvS10 vehicles was contracted by Germany.
BAE Systems said the BvS10 provides manoeuvrability based on NATO standards to traverse various terrains, including snow, ice, rock, sand, mud, and swamps, as well as to operate in steep mountain environments. Its amphibious capability allows it to swim in flooded areas or coastal waters. It can deliver personnel and supplies to sustain strategic, tactical, and operational mobility, according to BAE Systems.
