Finnish startup Sophisticated Combat Automotive and Technical Assembly (SCATA) presented itself at the French embassy in Helsinki on 16 March as a new producer and supplier of armoured vehicles. The company announced that its first product, the SCATA Mk1 4x4 armoured vehicle, is in the prototype phase and will be displayed for the first time at Eurosatory 2026, to be held in Paris on 15-19 June.

The SCATA MkI is based on a licensed chassis design from French company Texelis, combined with in-house design and production of armoured vehicle bodies at SCATA's facilities in Jakobsstad on the Gulf of Bothnia.

SCATA founder and CEO Victor Ekman told Janes on 16 March that the 4x4 vehicle was aimed at markets in the Middle East, Nordic countries, and Central Europe. He positioned the SCATA 4x4 vehicle between Sisu Auto's 14-tonne Sisu GTP 4x4 and Patria's 24-tonne Pasi 6x6 armoured vehicle. The SCATA Mk1 weighs up to 19 tonnes, including a payload of up to 4.5 tonnes, and features NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) level 2 and 3 protection, according to Ekman.

The SCATA Mk1 is nearly 6.6 m long, 2.5 m wide, and 2.4 m high. It can be powered by a 375 hp Cummins ISL8.9 or more powerful engine, producing a maximum speed of 110 km/h, with a range of 750 km. One SCATA Mk1 can be transported by a C-130J and two by an A400M aircraft, in addition to sea and rail.
