Slovak company EVPÚ unveiled a prototype of the Turra 30 V10 remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS) at the International Defence and Security Technology Fair (IDET) 2025 held in Brno, Czech Republic, from 28 to 30 May. The latest version of the RCWS is designed to be integrated on light wheeled and tracked armoured combat vehicles, according to a company statement.
An EVPÚ representative told Janes at IDET 2025 that the Turra 30 V10 could be a candidate to furnish the Army of the Czech Republic's next-generation 8×8 armoured fighting vehicle, the competition for which is expected to begin in 2026, adding that no vehicle integration of the RCWS had taken place.
The turret was exhibited with Northrop Grumman's Mk44S Bushmaster 30 mm chain gun as the main armament. The RCWS can carry 350 30×173 mm and 600 7.62×51 mm rounds, but alternatively it can be armed with a 40×180 mm weapon system, depending upon customer preferences.
The prototype also featured a host of additional subsystems, including EVPÚ Defence's Harpia active protection system equipped with IAI Elta multimission radars; a multicanister unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launcher capable of launching Spear UAV Viper quadricopters; dual Spike LR/LR2 anti-tank guided missiles from Rafael; and the company's own Gladius Twin mini remote weapon station with 7.62×51 mm FN MAG machine guns. The Turra 30 V10 is also equipped with smoke grenade launchers, an automated meteorological sensor, a tactical situation awareness system, and independent gunner and commander sights, the company representative confirmed to Janes.
The representative described how Viper UAVs could be used to support a variety of mission sets including intelligence-gathering, precision strike, electronic warfare, and counter-UAV operations.
