Brazil launches first MANSUP anti-ship missile from Greenhalgh-class frigate

The Brazilian Navy launched the MANSUP (Míssil Antinavio Nacional de Superfície) anti-ship missile from a Greenhalgh-class frigate for the first time on 13 September, the service confirmed to Janes on the same day.
As part of its effort to develop a surface-to-surface missile, the Brazilian Navy launched a seventh MANSUP from the frigate F Rademaker (F49), the service told Janes .
Previously, Niterói-class frigates and the corvette Cv Barroso (V34) launched MANSUP missiles.
The navy said it needed to launch MANSUP from a Greenhalgh-class frigate to meet service missile qualifications.
Brazil intends to complete MANSUP's development in late 2025, to arm the incoming Tamandaré-class frigates. Each Tamandaré-class ship will receive two MBDA ITL 70A B3 launchers for the MANSUP.
This is the fourth launch of a MANSUP from the pilot batch of ten missiles since 2022, and three prototypes were launched during 2018 and 2019.
The MANSUP is an all-weather sea-skimming fire-and-forget missile, being developed as part of the programme Esporão of the Navy Weapon Systems Directorate by the Brazilian Navy and by Fundação Ezute, Avibras, SIATT, and Omnisys.
