Containerised ROTV system developed for UK MROS seabed warfare platform passes FAT

A containerised remotely operated towed vehicle (ROTV) system being developed by Danish company Eiva for the UK's new Multi-Role Ocean Surveillance (MROS) seabed warfare platform, RFA Proteus , has successfully passed its factory acceptance tests (FAT), the company announced on 19 August.
Eiva was awarded a contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) worth GBP3.2 million (USD3.94 million) in August 2023 to provide a containerised ScanFish L ROTV solution. Once delivered, it will be integrated into Proteus 's seabed warfare ‘system of systems'.
According to the company, containerisation of the ROTV will increase its versatility, enabling hydrographic surveys with multiple acoustic survey sensors and instruments to be conducted from a wide range of host platforms with minimal deployment time.
The ROTV system will be used to perform a wide range of tasks, including seafloor mapping, large area search and mine countermeasures, cable route surveys and pipeline inspection, high-resolution object detection, and oceanographic data collection through the water column.
The system being delivered to the UK MoD comprises a 20' Cube container module and launch and recovery system supplied by SH Group subsidiary SH Defence, along with Eiva's ScanFish L ROTV, which is equipped with (but not limited to) Sonardyne's SPRINT-Nav Mini hybrid INS (inertial navigation system)/DVL (Doppler velocity log) and Voyis' Observer Pro optical camera and Insight Pro laser scanner. Two dedicated computer workstations are built into the container and equipped with Eiva's proprietary NaviSuite software for data processing and analysis.
