The second Qatari 50 m fast attack craft (FAC), Al Ghariyah (Q-52), was launched at Dearsan Shipyard in Istanbul on 14 February.
The contract for the two vessels was signed in June 2023 in Doha, with construction officially beginning in February 2024. The keel-laying ceremony took place in December 2024, while the first vessel, Al Wakrah (Q-51), was launched in November 2025.
The FACs are 50.76 m long with a beam of 9.53 m and a draught of 2.10 m. They have a top speed of 36 kt and a range of approximately 1,000 n miles.
The vessels are armed with Çakır surface-to-surface missiles and Sungur air-defence missiles. Their main gun is a 40 mm Leonardo Marlin, supported by two Aselsan Stamp-2 12.7 mm remote weapon stations (RWSs) and two manually operated 12.7 mm machine guns for close-range protection.
Dearsan officials said the company is ready to begin negotiations for an additional three missile boats, which could expand the programme into a five-ship class.
Work will continue through the production and systems integration phases until the boats are delivered to Qatar, where they are scheduled to go into service in mid-2027.
