Türkiye's Dearsan Shipyard has reached a milestone in the construction of two 50 m guided-missile fast attack craft (FAC) for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces. The first vessel, Al Wakrah (Q51), whose steel-cutting ceremony was held on 22 November 2024, was successfully launched on 17 November 2025. The launch marks the completion of one of the project's critical phases.
These patrol boats – with an overall length of 50.76 m, a beam of 9.53 m, and a draft of 2.10 m – are designed to achieve a top speed of 36 kt and a range of 1,000 n miles. They are armed with four Çakır surface-to-surface missiles and Sungur surface-to-air missiles. The main gun is a Leonardo Marlin 40 mm; for close defence there are two Aselsan Stamp remote weapon station (RWS) systems with 12.7 mm machine guns and two manually operated 12.7 mm machine guns.
The vessels have the Aselsan Mar-D as their primary search radar, with Alper low probability of intercept (LPI) and Kelvin Hughes SharpEye radars for navigation. Fire control is supported by the Aselsan Ahtapot-S electro-optical system. In addition, the vessels are equipped with Aselsan ARES 2-NC electronic support measures (ESM) electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.
