Singapore's ST Engineering has for the first time displayed a model of the country's multirole combat vessel (MRCV) and it has shed more light on the ship's features and form factor.
The model was displayed at ST Engineering's podium as part of the IMDEX 2025 naval and defence exhibition, which is taking place from 6 to 8 May in Singapore.
ST Engineering representatives Janes spoke to at the exhibition declined to reveal details of the ship including its overall length and displacement, but the model indicates that the MRCV will feature a twin-screw propulsion system with controllable pitch propellers.
In addition, the model confirms that the MRCV will be able to carry at least two unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) with estimated tonnage of about 10 tonnes each, and these are carried in a space underneath its flight deck.
These USVs will be deployed via an automated launch-and-recovery system (LARS) that is similar to the one found on the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) Littoral Mission Vessels (LMVs).
While not depicted in the model, flight deck markings seen on the model suggest that the MRCV will be equipped with an aviation hangar that can embark rotary-winged unmanned aerial vehicles or one medium helicopter.
In addition to this, the MRCV model features a bulbous bow that can be utilised to house a hull-mounted sonar.
In terms of weapons, the MRCV model is seen with a 76 mm naval gun in its primary position, two automatic cannons arranged diagonally opposite each other above its hangar, and what appears to be a 16-cell vertical launching system in an array just ahead of its wheelhouse.
