India donates two more boats to Mozambique

India handed over two fast interceptor craft (FICs) to the Mozambique Navy in a ceremony held in Nacala on 8 November, the Indian Navy announced two days later.
It released photographs of two Solas Marine FICs with the Indian naval pennants T 229 and T 238 being unloaded from the Indian Navy landing ship INS Gharial .
“These water-jet-propelled boats have a top speed of 45 kt and a range of 200 n miles at 12 kt. They can carry a crew of five personnel and are equipped with machine guns and bullet-resistant cabins,” the Indian Navy said. “The two FICs will significantly aid the government of Mozambique in its effort to combat maritime terrorism and ongoing insurgency in the Cabo Delgado province.”
India previously donated two FICs (T 310 and T 311) to Mozambique in December 2021 and two larger ex-Indian Coast Guard L&T patrol vessels in 2019.
