The Indonesian Navy has received and commissioned the first waterjet-propelled variant of the country's KCR-60M fast attack craft.

A ceremony to induct the vessel was held on 24 October at the Indonesian Navy's Military Sealift Command headquarters in Jakarta, the Indonesian Ministry of Defence said in a statement on 27 October.

The vessel, which is now in service as KRI Belati with pennant number 622, was built by the privately owned Indonesian shipbuilder, PT Tesco Indomaritim.

As such, Belati is also the first KCR-60M attack craft built by a shipbuilder that is not affiliated with the Indonesian government. The Indonesian Navy's fleet of six older KCR-60M vessels has all been built by state-owned PT PAL.

Belati has an overall length of 62 m, a beam of 9 m, and can accommodate a crew complement of 50.

It is equipped with a single fixed propeller complemented by two Hamilton HT900 waterjets, and these are powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M93L and one MTU 16V 4000 M63L diesel engines respectively.

In comparison, the Indonesian Navy's existing KCR-60M vessels are each propelled by two fixed-pitch propellers.

PT Tesco Indomaritim claims that the vessel can attain a cruising speed of 17 kt and a top speed of 35 kt, and this represents an improvement over the existing KCR-60's top speed of 28 kt.

In terms of weapon systems, Belati is armed with a Leonardo Oto Marlin 40 mm gun in the primary position and four launchers for the Turkish-developed Roketsan Atmaca anti-ship missile amidships.
