Fincantieri has handed over the second Italian-built offshore patrol ship (Pattugliatore Polivalente dʼAltura: PPA) to the Indonesian Navy.

The ship, which will be in service as KRI Prabu Siliwangi with pennant number 321 once commissioned, was delivered during a ceremony at the Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia, Italy, on 22 December, Fincantieri said in a statement issued the same day.

It follows the delivery of its sister vessel, KRI Brawijaya with pennant number 320, which was commissioned in July and officially welcomed at the Indonesian Navy's Tanjung Priok base in North Jakarta in September.

Prabu Siliwangi is the second of two PPA vessels procured under a EUR1.18 billion (USD1.39 billion) contract announced by Fincantieri in March 2024.

Originally intended for the Italian Navy as ITS Ruggiero di Lauria, the ship has since been adapted for Indonesian requirements.

Its sister vessel, Brawijaya, was previously slated to enter Italian service as ITS Marcantonio Colonna.

The PPA class measures 143 m in length and can accommodate a crew complement of 171.

Each vessel is powered by a combined diesel and gas turbine (CODAG) propulsion system supplemented by electric propulsion, giving a top speed of about 32 kt.

Images of Prabu Siliwangi issued by Fincantieri confirm that it has been similarly armed as its sister ship, and the weapons include a 127 mm main gun, a 76 mm/62 Super Rapid Strales/Sovraponte gun, and two 25 mm cannons.

Prabu Siliwangi is expected to undergo a formal induction ceremony in Indonesia in 2026.
