Indonesia's second Brawijaya-class frigate, Prabu Siliwangi , has arrived in Indonesian waters after completing a long‑distance delivery voyage from Italy.
The vessel berthed at the naval base in Lampung on 23 March, where it conducted replenishment activities before continuing onwards to Jakarta for its commissioning ceremony, the Indonesian Navy said via an official social media account on the same day.
This statement provides the first official indication of where the vessel would be based and the Indonesian Navy fleet that the warship would operate with.
Prabu Siliwangi's arrival in-country follows the ship's official handover by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri at the Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia on 22 December 2025.
The frigate was originally constructed for the Italian Navy and was meant to be ITS Ruggiero di Lauria before being transferred to Indonesia as part of a EUR1.18 billion (USD1.3 billion) contract for two Pattugliatore Polivalente d'Altura (PPA) vessels.
Prabu Siliwangi shares the same configuration as its sister ship, first-of-class KRI Brawijaya , including a combined diesel and gas (CODAG) propulsion arrangement that allows speeds of up to 32 kt.
It also has an armament suite comprising a 127 mm main gun, a 76 mm Super Rapid Strales/Sovraponte gun, and 25 mm cannons.
With an overall length of 143 m and accommodation for 171 personnel, the PPA class represents one of the most capable surface combatant types in Indonesia's inventory.
