Lithuanian Navy commissions new tug

The Lithuanian Navy commissioned its new ASD 3010 ICE tug during a ceremony held at the Klaipėda Cruise Ship Terminal on 12 May, Dutch shipbuilder Damen has confirmed.

The new tug, named Lokys (H 240), was built by Damen at its shipyard in Galați, Romania, under a contract worth EUR10.8 million (USD12 million) awarded in August 2024.

The vessel has a full load displacement of 300 tonnes, an overall length of 30 m, a beam of 10 m, and a draught of 4.9 m. It carries a crew complement of eight and has a top speed of more than 13 kt.

Propulsion equipment includes two Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines and two Kongsberg Maritime US255 azimuth thrusters. The vessel is also equipped with a Furuno L-band surface search and navigation radar.

The ship is capable of operating in ice conditions and has a bollard pull of 60 tonnes. It will be based at Klaipėda, and used for a wide range of missions, including target towing, pollution control, firefighting, and maritime security operations.
