Lockheed Martin Canada awarded SEA Canada, part of SEA Group, a Cohort plc group company, a multi-year contract to support Lockheed Martin in the project implementation phase of the River-class destroyer (RCD) programme, SEA Canada confirmed in a release on 16 March.
SEA Canada will provide integrated logistic support (ILS) as well as support for the installation, set-to-work, and acceptance of its Torpedo Launcher Systems, the company said.
SEA Canada will also deliver training and hands-on instruction, the company said.
“This contract will ensure that the Royal Canadian Navy's River-class destroyers' Canadian-built Torpedo Launcher Systems are fully supported from within Canada,” Keith Cunnane, general manager at SEA Canada, said in the release.
Sea Canada is manufacturing the lightweight Torpedo Launcher Systems for the Royal Canadian Navy at its new facility in Ottawa, the company noted, adding the weapons-agnostic launcher can fire a variety of NATO-standard torpedoes.
