Naval Group signs new contracts with Greek industry to expand strategic co-operation

Naval Group has signed new partnership agreements with six Greek companies in the framework of the Hellenic Industrial Participation (HIP) plan.

The agreements, signed on 6 and 7 May at the DEFEA exhibition in Athens, include four framework contracts regarding the support of the Kimon-class Frégate de Défense et d'Intervention Hellenic Navy (FDI HN) multimission frigates on order for Greece, and two memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on the integration of drones on surface ships beyond the FDI HN programme.

Launched in March 2022 Naval Group's HIP was established to bring Greek companies into the supply chain for the wider FDI programme and beyond. To date, the shipbuilder said it has signed more than 120 contracts with approximately 70 Greek suppliers to support the production of the ships.

The latest framework contracts signed at DEFEA are intended to contribute to the future support of the FDI HNs in Greece and include agreements with Farad (support services for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning [HVAC] systems), Diving Status (provider for underwater inspection and maintenance work), Melita (diesel engines), and Petros Petropoulos (diesel generators).

Alongside the framework contracts, Naval Group signed an MOU with Altus LSA (Land Sea Air) under which the two companies will collaborate on the marinisation and integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) onto naval vessels – including FDI frigates but also Gowind corvettes and other surface ships. This will include adapting Altus LSA's Atlas 8 heavy-lift multimission logistics UAS for operation onboard Naval Group platforms.
