NAVDEX 2025: Al Seer Marine showcases 19.8 m USV

United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based shipbuilder Al Seer Marine (ASM) revealed a new 19.8 m-long unmanned surface vessel (USV) at the Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2025 held in Abu Dhabi from 17 to 21 February.
The USV, called Typhon, is the second manufactured by ASM. The first one is an 11 m USV in service with the UAE Coast Guard.
A spokesperson for ASM told Janes that the USV has been designed for territorial and coastal duties including search-and-rescue, area surveillance, and patrol missions.
As well as its 19.8 m length, the USV has a beam of 3.8 m and a draught of 0.9 m. It also has a full load displacement of 30 tonnes, a maximum speed of more than 40 kt, and a range of 900 n miles at cruising speed. Its propulsion system comprises two 110 hp engines powering water-jets.
The Typhon USV can communicate with its command station via satellite communications (satcom) and 5G long-term evolution (LTE) communications. The company spokesperson said the USV comes with a modular payload design with various electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) sensor and weapons station options. The model on show had a modular aluminium design with a reduced radar signature and was displayed with a mounted rocket launcher.
