The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has unveiled two new variants of its Sea Baby unmanned surface vehicle (USV).
The first variant features a remote weapons station (RWS) with a gyrostabilised 14.5 mm machine gun, equipped with an auto-capture and target recognition system, according to the SBU. The second variant features a 10-tube Grad 122 mm multiple rocket launcher (MRL).
The two new variants have a range of 1,500 km and a payload of up to 2,000 kg, an increase over the 1,000 km and 850 kg of previous versions of Sea Baby. The new variants also feature a modified profile, with a more angular bow and continuous upper surface than previous versions. The original version of Sea Baby has a length of 6 m, a beam of 2 m, and an above water height of 600 mm. A 400 hp powerplant (likely arranged in two engines of 200 hp each) and two waterjets provide propulsion and a top speed of 90 km/h (49 kt). The two new USVs also feature reinforced engines and modern navigation systems, according to the SBU.
