The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration's (FMV's) more than SEK139 million (USD14.62 million) contract with Swedish defence information technology (IT) company MilDef for the procurement of command-and-control (C2) systems is distributed equally between OneCIS (command, information, and software), hardware, and integration services, Olof Engvall – head of investor relations and corporate communications at MilDef – confirmed to Janes on 23 July.

“A significant portion of that deal will be delivered in 2025,” Engvall said. The entire contract value would be over SEK200 million (USD21.02 million) if an option to order “more of the same hardware, software, and systems” were exercised, he added.

The hardware, which is part of the deal, included vehicle-mounted switches, routers, and ruggedised computers. All of the hardware has been adapted as per the Swedish Army requirements.

MilDef's OneCIS programme provides communications services such as internet protocol (IP) routing, switching, and firewalling. It is a standalone deployment system and has an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) component, allowing it to host other systems or services such as C2, battlefield management system (BMS), and geographical services, according to MilDef. “This is a deployment software that deploys lots of other different applications and software for command-and-control operations. We do not develop the operative systems, and we do not provide the application software,” Engvall said. OneCIS can be used for both autonomous and joint tactical operations, and it is also NATO Federated Mission Networking (FMN) ready, according to the company.
