Hensoldt reaches milestone for Ceretron software

German defence company Hensoldt has completed the first release milestone for its Ceretron sensor suite and data processing system, according to a 28 May press release.

During this time, according to the company, the software showed that it could reliably map simple control sequences, target detection, and reconnaissance processes. The software also “successfully controlled optronic reconnaissance sensors” and displayed video streams as well as algorithm results in near-realtime.

The modular software system will be continually enhanced with new functions and interfaces in six-month release cycles, according to Hensoldt.

Next steps include the integration of further sensor technology such as Hensoldt's See Through Armour System (SETAS), and connection to battlefield management systems such as SitaWare.

Ceretron complies with the NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) and the UK Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) standards, improving the likelihood of interoperability with third-party systems. It also connects to command-and-control (C2) systems such as the Bundeswehr's FüWES command and weapon deployment system.

Ceretron is also the name of a sensor system for land vehicles, which fuses data streams and provides an artificial intelligence (AI)-supported operational picture, according to the manufacturer's website. The platform can be installed on any land forces vehicle and configured for targeting, situational awareness, reconnaissance and surveillance, platform and force protection, and electronic support and attack.
