Danish company Renegade UxS delivered approximately 10,000 of their Nightmare first-person view (FPV) unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) to Ukraine's Ministry of Defence (MoD), with the bulk of the delivery taking place since October 2025, Thomas Have, CEO and founder at Renegade UxS, told Janes on 5 February at the Danish Defence Annual Conference (DDAC) 2026 held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

An unspecified number of those Nightmare UASs were produced at a Renegade UxS facility in Ukraine. “We have good production partners there,” Have added. “Ukraine has very strict requirements for drone production. What sort of control system does it [the UAS] have? What kind of camera? What kind of initiation boards [electronic trigger mechanisms] for payloads? They need to be able to train the pilots very fast.” The company continues to maintain some of its production lines in Ukraine.

Renegade UxS created a digital version of the Nightmare FPV based on their experience in Ukraine. “Analogue drones are very cheap, and they are great if you need to fire off four million. But they don't have any encryption. They are very easy to jam. It's also difficult to link the drone up with other systems, including fire control, C2 [command and control], C4 [command, control, communications, and computers], [and] all that stuff. It's difficult if you don't have a digital communication line,” Have explained.
