Hensoldt and Tytan Technologies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs), according to a 26 January Hensoldt press release.
As part of the MoU, Tytan Technologies' interceptors will be integrated with Hensoldt's Elysion Mission Core command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) software to create an “immediately deployable, Bavarian-made” C-UAS capability. The MoU also includes joint initiatives to protect critical infrastructure and joint projects in relation to supporting Ukraine or NATO air defence, as per the release.
Elysion Mission Core software covers the C-UAS process of detection, reaction, and protection, according to Hensoldt. It has an open architecture, threat analysis function, countermeasure proposal and effector activation, and situational data sharing from multiple sources.
Tytan Technologies also opened a facility in Bavaria on 26 January, according to the company's social media post on the same day. Tytan Technologies called the new site an “industrial backbone for scaling C-UAS” and said the goal is to produce 3,000 interceptors per month by the end of 2026. The company continues to field its interceptor in Ukraine with “lessons learned there feeding directly into development, system architecture, and production readiness”, according to the post.
Tytan Technologies confirmed to Janes in January 2025 that its interceptor was being used on the battlefield in Ukraine and that it was specifically developed to combat Shahed-136 (Geran-2) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Tytan interceptor can reach a speed of more than 300 km/h, has a range of 15–20 km, and can carry a payload of up to 1 kg, as per previous Janes
