Aselsan detailed Türkiye's Steel Dome air-defence system to international defence journalists including Janes visiting the company's Gölbaşı site in Ankara on 7 October.

It described a multilayered and multidomain system that will use a wide range of sensors and effectors, with the ‘brain' provided by the Hakım air and space command-and-control (C2) system.

Developed by Aselsan together with Roketsan and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) Defence Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE), Steel Dome will consist of four air-defence layers – strategic, operational, tactical, and close area – that will use hard- and soft-kill effectors as well as lasers. The strategic layer will consist of the Sıper long-range air and missile defence system with a range of at least 100 km. In addition to launchers, a Sıper battalion consists of a surveillance radar and three batteries with three fire-control radars each. Sıper is in large-scale production and has been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces.

The operational layer will consist of Hısar O medium-range and Hısar A short-range air and missile defence systems with ranges of 40 and 15 km respectively, organised similarly to Sıper battalions. The tactical layer will be made up of Gürz multi-purpose all-in-one air and missile systems with a 35 mm gun with a range of 4 km and short- and very-short-range missiles with ranges up to 15 km, Korkut 150/35 and 130/35 35 mm very-short-range gun-based air-defence systems with ranges up to 4 km, and Gökdemir 100 air and missile systems with a range of at least 20 km.
