FNSS introduces C-UAS capabilities to remote weapon stations

Turkish firm FNSS has adapted its range of vehicles and remote weapon stations (RWSs) to include more counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) capabilities.

FNSS unveiled a Pars Scout 6×6 vehicle configured for a C-UAS role. Speaking to Janes at the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025, FNSS officials confirmed that the vehicle integrates Aselsan's Şahin and İhtar systems.

The Şahin is an RWS fitted with a 40 mm Mk 19 Mod 3 grenade launcher, capable of firing an ATOM 40 mm high-velocity airburst round. It includes a TV camera, thermal imager, and laser rangefinder. The system is effective against mini- and micro-UASs with an effective engagement range of up to 700 m, according to FNSS.

İhtar is an RWS that relies on soft-kill countermeasures. The system comprises a Ku-band pulse-Doppler radar and pulse compression, programmable radio frequency (RF) jammer system, and electro-optics. According to Aselsan the radar offers multitracking and automatic threat detection in all directions. The system is capable of omnidirectional jamming, enabling it to neutralise swarm UAS attacks, according to the company.

FNSS confirmed that this C-UAS configuration has not yet been delivered to any operational forces.

New variants

Around IDEF 2025 held in Istanbul in July, FNSS introduced two new variants of its Çaka RWS. One is Çaka 30/AT-K, armed with a CANiK M2 QCB 12.7 mm heavy machine gun (HMG) with 400 ready-to-fire rounds. Janes understands that it has a launcher for two Roketsan Karaok short-range fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) with an effective engagement range of 2.5 km.
