Hungarian Lynx armoured mortar vehicle to be equipped with NEMO

Hungary is procuring at least 24 NEMO turrets to equip its Lynx armoured mortar carriers, according to a Patria press release on 9 April announcing that it had signed a supply agreement with Rheinmetall Landsysteme and Rheinmetall Hungary for the delivery of NEMO systems.
A Patria spokesperson told Janes on 15 April that the NEMOs would be manufactured at the company's plant in HĂ€meenlinna, Finland, where the system is produced.
Patria said Rheinmetall conducted the trial integration of NEMO into the KF41 Lynx armoured vehicle in September 2024, with tests focusing on evaluating technical compatibility and validating the system's integration into the vehicle. The results confirmed that the system can be seamlessly incorporated into the platform, expanding Lynx's operational capabilities, according to Patria.
The 1,900 kg NEMO is an unmanned turreted 120 mm mortar system with fully automated fire-control capabilities and designed for integration into various platforms. It can conduct indirect and also direct fire support with high accuracy and rapid engagement times, with a semi-automatic loading mechanism increasing firing efficiency and responsiveness in combat situations, according to Patria, whose technical specifications for the system include 25 seconds to open fire at a rate of up to 10 rds/min with a range of over 10 km, depending on the ammunition used.
The Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) received its first domestically produced Lynx infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) on 24 July 2024. The vehicle was completed in December 2023 and handed over to the HDF after receiving functional, performance, and quality acceptance.
