Slovak small arms manufacturer Grand Power unveiled the M4M1 assault rifle at the International Defence and Security Technology Fair (IDET) 2025 held in Brno, Czech Republic, from 28 to 30 May.

Grand Power told Janes that the rifle was developed after consultations with Slovak special forces in response to problems they had with other weapons during operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Based on the modified M4 (AR15) rifle, the M4M1 is chambered for 5.56×45 mm NATO cartridges. It features a short-stroke gas piston system, with a modified gas block enabling quick adjustment without removing the handguard, which is designed to provide easy access to the gas system. The bolt carrier group (BCG) has been modified by Grand Power to operate with a standard buffer, allowing it to fire in both automatic and semi-automatic modes.

The new rifle is fully ambidextrous, providing access to the bolt catch and release, as well as a fire selector, from both sides. The M4M1 rifle is offered with barrel lengths of 11 and 14.5 in, with the former weighing 2,950 g, and is 802 mm long with a retracted stock.

Grand Power told Janes that the M4M1 would be offered to the Slovak Armed Forces, with the procurement procedure to be announced. This is why the rifle is developed to mil-spec standards, including Picatinny rails on the upper receiver and a free-floated handguard, which is also fitted with M-LOK slots. Grand Power has developed its own muzzle device, which enhances the controllability of the weapon in full-automatic mode and allows for the mounting of dedicated sound suppressors.
