Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah al-Ahmed al-Sabah inaugurated the emirate's first ammunition factory on 16 February.

The Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that Sheikh Ahmed pressed a button to officially launch production at the Naif Light Ammunition Factory, which is the Ministry of Defence's first such facility.

It noted that the Chinese consul in Kuwait and the CEO of China's Norinco made speeches during the event, with the latter emphasising the defence company's commitment to continuing to collaborate with Kuwait to produce high-quality ammunition, transfer expertise, and train local personnel.

The Kuwaiti Armed Forces released a video showing Sheikh Ahmad and other senior officials touring the factory, which has a test range, and inspecting NATO-standard 9 mm, 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, and .50 calibre rounds at the facility, as well as what appeared to be a large cartridge for sniper rifles.
